My lover. How thoroughly modern. Peggy looked the woman up and down - not so as to judge her, but just to get a feel for who this woman was, what she was like.

"Perhaps that's for the best," Peggy finally said. "I'm not certain this is the sort of place a pet would fare well in." Not that Peggy knew much beyond what that questionable video in the pod had shown her, but a vault without access to sunlight seemed bad enough for humans, never mind one's furred or feathered friend.

"As far as I can tell, a vault, some sort of bunker to protect people from nuclear war, though more and more I'm gathering the fact that no one who has awoken remembers how they got here." She gives Chocolat a sympathetic nod. "I was with my -" What was Daniel Sousa, exactly, to Peggy? They'd only just kissed so calling him a lover felt patently ridiculous, but he wasn't a boyfriend or a paramour either. She could have called him a beau but using that word felt absurd on a number of levels - she was no ditzy Fifth Avenue debutante, after all. "The last thing I remember is being with a friend of the male variety myself, before waking up here."
