vault66 | 1st Team Meeting

WHO: Azula and any vault dwellers who show up.
WHERE: The Rec Room
WHEN: Three hours after her annoucement.
WHAT: Azula's "War Council" to disseminate information and introductions...also snacks.
WARNINGS: Possible discussions of violence and/or dark backstories.

Azula had attended a number of war meetings growing up as well as social affairs for meeting with important members of the public or military. This was different for a number of reasons, the largest being that this was a place no one seemed to have any respect for her title.

But she could handle that. It had taken her half a month to come to terms with it but here the title "Princess" was only as important as she made it.

Unfortunately that meant having to play "Nice" having to bite her tongue and not get frustrated when she wasn't catered to. That would have been harder for her two years ago, and impossible a year ago.

But here we were, with her waiting patiently near the entrance to the Rec Room to greet people as they came in. Oh how far she'd fallen.

"Come in, help yourself to some snacks. We'll get started soon."

Saya took a moment to survey the group and make notes. She really wished she had her tab or one of her laptops, but that wasn't important right now as she could just keep mental notes just as well.

"Takagi Saya," she began with a slight bow. "Student from Japan, also 2017. Though at this point we can all assume we're all here from different worlds, summing up that the multiverse theory is more than that now. Or we're all crazy and our memories were tampered with."

Pausing for a moment with a shrug, she continued. "I am considered a genius, whatever that might happen to mean here. I'm well versed in a multitude of academic subjects, technology and most of anything requiring learning and education." Because her knowledge was vast enough that she wasn't going to go into specifics.

"I had also been taught basic weapon handling and martial training but we didn't get into much of that before waking up here... I. That's it." she had forgotten for a moment that her group wasn't here and felt a pang of sadness creep up. She stuffed it down and put up a strong face once again. There's no room for weakness here.

Azula listened patiently having guessed bits of what Saya was sharing with the group now, but it was nice to get confirmation that she was...at least for Azula's purposes: useful.

Once the introductions had moved along so they could speak more privately Azula made her way over to Saya.

"I can't help but wonder if you and I had similar difficulties despite our different worlds. I was considered quite the prodigy myself in my world. For example, the pressures of living up to the title of "Genius." when everyone expects perfection from you."

"It's tiring, yeah. I mean, when you're surrounded by a bunch of people who are trying to put you down with their stupidity and ignorance." Though, after growing up a little in that time after the outbreak, she understood that she wasn't without flaws.

"It would have been nice to be able to be a lazy buffoon like everyone else, living out their lives without a care in the world. But that would prove useless and fruitless and beneath me. I am a genius and as such, I way beyond that."

"That is by far the most relatable thing anyone's said all night." Azula was warming quickly to this one even if she still thought of Saya as weak.

"I have an older brother who never was on my level, but he never had to be after all. He was the first born. And you see it all the time with men in positions of power ignoring their intellectual betters simply because they don't like admitting they don't have all the answers."

"But girls like us must be ambitious, must work harder to make the most of our gifts."

"You said it, ugh! You'd think humans would have evolved past such stupid and shallow mindsets and yet even in modern times, it's always the same patriarchal nonsense."

Granted, she could admit that in her time they had made some progress, but there was still way way more room to improve.

"Ambitious as long as we have the means to back it up. By no means do I intend to fall back and let things fall onto my lap. I'll make sure I stay at the very top and you seem to be the same way which will bode well for our survival and life here."

"It does give us a leg up. After all it seems like you're already the first person we all think about when it comes to those computers and complicated devices." She waves a hand idly at the lights that are now on because of Saya's contributions.

"I'll be relying on you and your brilliance as well, but I haven't forgotten our arrangement from before. And if you like I'll even try to help you improve your combat skills."

Grinning wide, Saya nodded. "I am awesome, I know." she smirked and nodded at Azula.

"That would be great! I still need more martial training." Even though her dad was amazingly good at it, she never quite picked up on it. "And if you'd like to learn about tech, just let me know. I don't mind teaching you whenever you'd like."

"Just be patient with me." Azula chuckled idly "I hate to admit it but my first lesson in kitchen technology had to come from Jiro. His explanation of where the power comes from was...lacking to say the least."

All Azula knows is that energy comes out of the wall and goes into the cord to make the appliances work.

"Please, as if that knucklehead could explain how to get out of a paper bag." Saya huffed, already seemingly having butt heads with Jiro.

"I'm fine being patient, but I ask the same of you. Martial prowess is not my strong suit."

Azula nodded smugly, it would be easy to make Saya cooperate with her so long as they had a mutual dislike of Jiro.

And thankfully...Jiro seemed pretty keen on making everyone dislike him.

"I'll do my best not to leave any scars. Though you might have some bruises, Fire Nation training is very aggressive."

"I'm ready, I don't plan to have people come to my aid all the time. I'm already a genius, so now I have to train my body as well. Nothing but perfection is the goal here."

Or as close to it as humanly possible. She wasn't so arrogan to think of 100% perfection, but she'd get to the level she could get to.
